Put Safe Rate inside your AI assistant

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP client and ask about mortgages in plain language. Real rate estimates, lender records from federal filings, and local risk data — without handing over your name, email, or phone number.

What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol is a standard way for an AI assistant to use an outside tool. Think of it as a plug: instead of the assistant guessing from whatever it memorised during training, it calls a live source and gets a real answer back.

Safe Rate publishes one of those tools. Add it once and your assistant can price a mortgage, look up a lender's federal filing record, or check flood risk — using the same data behind this website.

  1. 1
    You

Ask a question in plain language, in the assistant you already use.

  2. 2
    Your assistant

Claude or ChatGPT decides a Safe Rate tool can answer it, and calls that tool.

  3. 3
    Safe Rate

We price the scenario or look up the lender and hand back structured data with its sources and dates.

Why add this to your assistant?

Why not just ask the AI directly?

Ask an assistant for today's mortgage rate and it will guess from training data that is months or years stale, or refuse. These tools return a rate priced today from live investor sheets, stamped with the date it came from.

Why not just use the website?

Use the website — it is the same data. This is for when the question is already part of a conversation: comparing two cities, sanity-checking a quote a lender emailed you, or working out whether a payment fits your budget.

What does it cost me?

Nothing, and no account. Rate estimates take no name, email, or phone number, so there is no lead to sell and no follow-up call.

What your assistant can do

Six tools, each backed by the same data that powers this website.

Price a scenario

Live rate estimates for any US location, with the full monthly cost — principal, interest, property taxes and homeowners insurance — not just principal and interest. Returns an estimate ID you can check again later.

get_quote_estimate

Track rate movement

Re-price a saved estimate and see how far rates have moved since you created it, in basis points and plain language.

track_quote_estimate

Research any lender

Look up a US mortgage lender by name or NMLS ID: origination volume, pull-through, product mix and footprint, straight from federal HMDA filings — scored on the same 5 Ps as our lender pages.

research_lender

Assess local risk

FEMA National Risk Index scores, flood-zone coverage and whether flood insurance is likely to be required for a mortgage, plus wildfire, earthquake and local insurance-market conditions.

assess_property_context

Understand a market

Median home value with its national percentile, rents, recent appreciation, and how much borrowing actually happens in the area.

get_market_context

See who lends locally

The lenders we publish rankings for in a metro area, filterable by loan type and institution type. Placement cannot be bought.

find_lenders_in_market

Ask it like a person

Your assistant picks the right tool and cites what it used. These are real responses from the live server.

You ask

What would a $500k home in 60607 cost me monthly with 20% down?

get_quote_estimate

Live rate estimates for any US location, with the full monthly cost — principal, interest, property taxes and homeowners insurance — not just principal and interest. Returns an estimate ID you can check again later.

How we handle your data

Anonymous by design

Rate estimates never require a name, email, or phone number. The tools have no field to collect them, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to sell.

Every lender carries its NMLS ID

Named lenders are identified by NMLS ID wherever we hold one, with a link to NMLS Consumer Access so you can verify a licence independently. We never invent an ID.

Scored the same way as the website

Lender numbers come back on the same 5 Ps — Pricing, Pull-through, Place, Product and Promptness — that produce the Safe Rate Score on our lender pages. Your assistant sees what you would see, not a separate scoring system invented for chat.

Data, not verdicts

Lender metrics come from public federal filings and are presented as sourced data points, not ratings or recommendations. Rankings state their basis, and placement cannot be purchased.

Affiliation is always disclosed

Safe Rate Mortgage (NMLS #1590949) is our affiliate. Any response naming it carries that disclosure, every time.

Rates shown are for informational purposes only and are subject to change without notice. Not a commitment to lend. They are not a Loan Estimate as defined by federal law, and nothing returned is financial advice. Every rate response carries the date of the rate data it was priced from.
